The Academic Media Technology Specialist is a member of the Georgetown University Law Center's Information and Academic Technologies (IAT) group, within Information Systems and Technology (IST). They will act as the lead for the day-to-day maintenance, scheduling, and troubleshooting of the systems that drive the law school's lecture capture initiative, providing regular hardware and software support. This position will also work closely with the rest of the IAT team to ensure the best possible application of Georgetown Law's learning management system. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology Resources and working closely with the audio visual team, when necessary, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Lecture Capture Support
- Manage lecture capture software, including scheduling of lecture recordings and administering the Law Center's lecture capture policy.
- Oversee the daily maintenance and troubleshooting of lecture capture systems, working with Service Desk and/or AV to upgrade lecture capture hardware.
- Help ensure seamless interface with the Learning Management System, troubleshooting lecture capture issues for faculty and students.
- Develop and maintain support documentation including outlines for process workflows, working with vendors as needed to resolve issues.
- Train and schedule AV techs to assist with recording and support of distance classes.
Training
- Assist with developing online resources for supported technologies and conduct trainings for supported technologies.
- Train AV techs for supervision of distance classes targeted to faculty, staff, and in some cases, students.
- Keep IST updated on the latest lecture capture initiatives, assisting IAT with the handling of 1:1s and small groups.
Web Conference, Academic, and Instructional Technologies Support
- Support web conferencing software, including instructional continuity which may fall outside of normal business hours.
- Develop and maintain support documentation as needed.
- Ensure faculty and students ability to access distance and video hosting tools, specifically through the Learning Management Software.
- Assist with support of all other academic and Instructional technologies, including Google Apps, Box, Canvas and other supported technologies.
- Assist with the management of Canvas and Sandbox courses, adding individuals to classes on an ad hoc basis and assisting faculty with access to their Canvas Course Sites.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - preferably in a digital media, instructional technology or related discipline
- 4 years of work experience in higher-education technology (equivalent work experience in higher education can be substituted for a bachelor's degree)
- Working knowledge of lecture capture, video conferencing, learning management, and academic software, as well as web publishing and online classroom technologies
- Demonstrate skill in problem solving and project management, along with experience working with ticketing software
- Experience working directly with faculty and staff as a technology trainer
- Ability to work during the hours of Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm
- This is an emergency designated position given its key role in the support of our academic mission and the need to be available during after-hours is crucial
- Due to the highly agile nature of this position, some evenings and weekends will be required at key times of the semester

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
